Hexham Priory School is a community, special school in Hexham, West Northumberland, for pupils aged 2-19 years old who experience severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Some pupils have additional sensory or physical needs and some are also on the Autistic Spectrum.
We are a dedicated staff group who provide an inclusive, quality education for our pupils, working with parents, carers and others to ensure all aspects of every child’s day are matched to their individual needs and personalised accordingly.
Relationships between staff and children are the key to the atmosphere in the school, making school a happy and purposeful place where children are respected, praised and acknowledged for who they are as well as what they do. Visitors to school often comment on the friendly, welcoming atmosphere and purposeful environment.
A team of professionals based in the school enable children to gain the best possible access to their education. Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Nurses all work with Teachers and Teaching Assistants to meet every child’s individual needs.
